YL & Sunsets

Last evening the sky lit up a soft pink glow as the sun settled below the mountains in the West.  Tonight the sunset outlines the edges of the clouds in shimmering gold.  These are just some of the views that will stay in my memory of Colorado Springs.

This past week I also had the opportunity to attend one of the Young Life gatherings.  It was a great chance to see how excited the kids were and the impact of the ministry.

Colorado Springs Views

The front deck and backyard views!

Mt. Rosa

Last weekend was July 4th.  Around Michigan there always seems to be some fireworks going off somewhere for seemingly weekend on end.  The most amazing firework show is usually the fireworks over Lake Michigan in South Haven after a wonderful sunset.  How can you not go wrong with smiley face fireworks?

This year in Colorado Springs it was a different feel since the only fireworks were over Prospect Lake in Memorial Park.  Wow.  The grand finale part was jaw dropping.  The entire sky was filled with the white sparkles as if all the stars decided to shine brightly.

Overall it was a great night with friends, especially trying to leave with all the traffic.  However we were successful in making it to Josh and John's ice cream before they closed.

Saturday, with my foot feeling a bit better, Mathew invited me on an easy hike of Mt. Rosa.  There was a 1.5 mile high clearance 4WD road to get to the start of the trail.  No kidding either, it was a legit off road that a vehicle without the clearance could not physically get anywhere.  James the Jeep was qualified although extremely bumpy due to the rocks (video to come).  Here's some evidence that I did make it to the top with my broken foot, maybe or maybe not the best idea though.

Other than having to replace my tire due to the low tire pressure, again...things have been going well but slow as my foot continues to heal.

Boundless, Red Rocks, and Liberty

Some of the remaining pictures that I have not posted.  Like the visit to Focus on the Family where we got a tour from the Boundless crew.

Also the visit to the Red Rock Amphitheatre where I had conform and run all the steps like the locals.

With overlooks of Denver I can easily see why this is an astounding venue.

Another find Rob picture!

Most importantly is this worker who worked so hard he turned into a statue.

On the way back to the car Kevin was giving me a hard time about taking random pictures like these, and I can't imagine why...

Lastly, some vacation long ago, some how, some reason, I don't know why, my brother took some pictures of the various portable bathrooms.  At any rate, in honor to continue a fine collection of portable bathroom pictures, here is another.

Liberty.  So on that patriotic note, have a great the fourth of July!

Ghost Town - Beware

The last day with Kevin in town we hit up the REI store and the Ghost Town disc golf course tucked away in the mountains on some gold mines near Central City, Colorado.

The Ghost Town course had more OB's then I have ever seen on any course.  Even so, I ended with a score of +10.  I have snagged most of these pictures from Kevin's camera.

Aside note, my foot is starting to heal and I am able to hobble around without crutches which is a huge blessing.  Many thanks to my uncle, who is podiatrist, for his advice from reviewing my x-ray.  I will be excited when I can get back to outdoor activities with America's mountain at the doorstep!
